The Golden Balls player of the month award for the month of December 2004 goes to the one and only Mel Eves.  It's over ten years since Mel led our all conquering veterans to back-to-back victories in the London AFA Open Veterans' Cup but he returned just before Christmas to help them progress into the next round of the Veterans Cup with a sparkling hat-trick in the 8 - 0 home win against Bustleholme Athletic.  I just hope the other players all appreciated the fact that they had played alongside a legend, I mean Gordon Brown not Mel.

The winner of the Kermit's Muppet of the Month award for the month of December 2004 is the globetrotting Andrew Thompson.  Skelly's final few weeks on the Island of Convicts saw him arrested at Cairns Airport for trying to smuggle a mouldy banana and an old ham and cheese sandwich.  He was pulled to one side and receiving a severe dressing down when a customs officer discovered a 6" hand crafted dagger in his bag.  Somehow he managed to get back home with just an official caution to his name.

The Jack Attack manager of the month award for the month of December 2004 goes to Gary Dimmack but not for his exploits with the fourth XI, it was for his sterling work in charge of the Veterans.  With many potential players falling by the wayside during the week before the game, Gary kept his cool and managed to construct a team that not only progressed to the next round, but did it in some style with an impressive 8 - 0 victory against much fancied Bustleholme Athletic.  Well done Gary and best of luck in the next round with the mighty Veterans.
