Stags Head v Old Wulfrunians

Experienced midfielder Jamie Perkins felt about ninety years old in the changing room as possibly one of the youngest second XI's in history listened to every one of Dave Winzor's wise words.

Unsurprisingly, with so many new faces in the side, Wulfs started slowly but they gradually began to get a foothold in the game around the midway point of the first half.

A series of chances then followed.  Anthony Morrison had a bad touch when put through one-on-one, James Lane tried to use his standing foot with predictable results and Shane Evans headed wide when it seemed easier to score, claiming he couldn't see the ball because of the sun!

Disaster struck at the start of the second half when a Stags Head midfielder let fly from twenty-five yards and the ball bounced in off the bar, 0-1.

Two minutes later the same player had a golden chance to increase the home teams advantage but he chipped over the bar.

Wulfs dug in and Anthony Morrison laid claim to one of the misses of the season, he nipped between the keeper and the centre half, rounded the keeper, then shanked the ball wide of the empty net.

Morrison soon redeemed himself though.  Jamie Perkins and James Lane linked up to send Jon Hart to the by-line and his cut back was slammed home by Morrison.

Stags Head threw everything forward in the last ten minutes but Tristan Stephens confidently claimed several crosses and in the end, on chances created, Wulfs were unlucky to drop two points.

Final score: Stags Head 1  Old Wulfrunians 1.
