Old Wulfrunians v Malremo Rangers
The third XI faced a very difficult home game against Malremo Rangers and things were made much more difficult by a devastating lack of players.
Things went from bad to worse on five minutes when, following a Malremo corner, Sam Cole kicked the post and after hobbling around for ten minutes, had to go off.
Malremo were fortunate to take the lead on fourteen minutes when Gary Griffiths was well and truly mugged by an opponent who cut the ball back an onrushing player to score. The referee saw no infringement.
Seven minutes later Malremo doubled their lead but this time there was no complaint. Sean Walkden was dispossessed by a winger who cut the ball back to the edge of the area to be drilled in to the corner of the net.
Wulfs improved substantially in the second half but failed to provide any noteworthy chances and fell further behind on seventy-six minutes when a deep cross was fired home on the half volley.
Wulfs finally found the net ten minutes from time when a long free kick over the top was latched on to by James Lane who chipped the keeper only to see his effort disallowed by a linesman's flag. After a few friendly hand gestures to the linesman and some gentle words to the referee, Laney was dismissed from the field of play.
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 0 Malremo Rangers 3.
