Silhill v Old Wulfrunians

Selection problems disrupted the third XI yet again when they travelled to play Silhill.

After a scrappy start Wulfs almost took the lead in the ninth minute when Mike Hill flashed a shot across goal.

Both teams then settled into the game and some good football was played but it was Silhill who took the lead on the half hour mark when a free kick was only half cleared and was smashed home from twelve yards out.

Wulfs continued to produce some promising football for the final fifteen of the half but failed to create any chances of note.

Silhill doubled their lead ten minutes after the break with a rasping 30 yard shot that left the keeper with no chance.

The same player then added a third but this time more through luck than quality.  A ball crossed in took an awkward bounce in front of him and he somehow managed to shin the ball which looped over the keeper and just under the bar.

Wulfs were thrown a lifeline ten minutes from time when the Sills centre forward was dismissed for stamping on Andy Weblin.

This put Wulfs firmly in the ascendancy and Matt Gould spurned a half chance and Paul Janos sent a header just wide but it just wasn't to be.

Simon Stewart returned to the side for the first time this season and put in an excellent performance.

Final score: Silhill 3  Old Wulfrunians 0.
