Old Wulfrunians v FCS Lasermail
The third XI suffered late cry-offs for the second week running leaving them with the bare eleven players when they entertained FCS Lasermail.
Despite the upheaval Wulfs were quick out of the blocks and took the lead after just six minutes when Ashley Postance side footed home his second goal of the season.
Better was to follow ten minutes later when the lead was doubled courtesy of Gareth Lawton lifting the ball over the keeper from the edge of the area.
With Wulfs in total control and playing some excellent football the lead was extended to three on twenty-seven minutes when Simon Stewart headed home following a goalmouth scramble.
Lasermail pulled a goal back but Paul Janos restored the three goal advantage a minute before half time when he slotted under the goalkeeper after being put through one-on-one.
By half time Wulfs were cruising, especially as Lasermail had been reduced to ten men on the half hour mark when one of their players lashed out at Matt Gould off the ball.
After the high standards of the first half, the second was a bit of an anti-climax and, although the result was never in danger, Wulfs did allow Lasermail to pull another goal back.
The result could have been closer still had goalkeeper Paul Bartell not made his second penalty save in two appearances one minute from time.
In the end it was another solid performance from a team who have improved one thousand fold since the start of the season and moved them back into second place in the table.
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 4 FCS Lasermail 2.
