Acocks Green v Old Wulfrunians
The third XI set off for a very difficult game at Acocks Green and their recent trend of suffering late cry-offs finally caught up with them. With a host of players unable to play, manager Dave Griffiths was forced to dig out the old boots and play himself at centre half.
On one of the poorer pitches they have played on, Wulfs controlled the opening twenty-five minutes of the game but failed to offer a single shot at goal in that time.
This was to backfire on them when Acocks took the lead on the half hour mark. A cross in from the right was met by a player who volleyed into the floor but the ball bounced up and into the net.
Acocks then doubled their lead when a mix up between Dave Griffiths and Darren Sangha allowed the forward to nip in and lob the ball home.
The home side were now in total control and added three more goals to their lead in the second half, the best of which was an unstoppable shot from the edge of the area.
Wulfs finally regained control of the game for the final ten minutes but failed in their quest to get a consolation goal.
Final score: Acocks Green 5 Old Wulfrunians 0.
