The fourth XI were determined to put their horror show performance away to Parkfield behind them when they hosted the same opponents in the first round of the Bill Hill Cup.
Things were immediately looking up as Nick Ling was named in the starting line up so there was no chance of him making another of his famous game changing late appearances.
Wulfs had the better of the early exchanges with Carl Hitchon and Adam Hughes using their pace well to get in behind a static Parkfield defence.
It wasn't until Sam Cole swapped positions with Adam Hughes that Wulfs took the lead. Some good approach play on the half hour mark culminated with a cracking through ball by Stuart Drury allowing Sam Cole to slot home from just inside the box.
The score line stayed that way until half time even though Wulfs has a few chances to increase their lead.
Wulfs started the second half in determined fashion, knowing that they couldn't let a lead slip as they had done so many times this season.
Parkfield were pressing Wulfs back, but it was still Wulfs who were looking the most threatening.
The next goal was always going to be crucial and it came from an extremely unlikely source on sixty-seven minutes. Good work by Adam Hughes led to a mix up in the Parkfield penalty area and Andrew Skedgel was on hand to blast home from four yards out.
Wulfs were now in total control and went 3 - 0 ten minutes from time when Rami Labib rose like an Egyptian salmon to head home a Richard Marsh missile.
Wulfs were unlucky to lose the superb Andy Carey through injury and his loss led to them conceding a late consolation goal.
Every player performed well , with special mentions to Richard Marsh, Nick Ling and Andrew Skedgel. A great battling performance with some superb late challenges. Now Wulfs need to convert this sort of performance to the league. Come on!!!
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 3 Parkfield Amateur 1.
