Old Wulfrunians v Glades Athletic

The fourth XI hoped to bounce back from last weeks defeat when they hosted promotion chasing Glades Athletic.

Wulfs were put on the back foot from the start with Glades playing some slick football and moving the ball around well.

On nineteen minutes Wulfs were exposed down the right flank and Glades opened the scoring with an absolute screamer past the helpless but well moustachioed Paul Cole.

Four minutes later a great cross, again coming from the right flank, was headed in by an onrushing Glades midfielder.

Wulfs were making life difficult for themselves and went three down with five minutes of the first half remaining.  Again a great cross from the right was met in the penalty area and crashed home.

Gary Dimmack then switched the formation to 4-4-2 which worked very well for the remainder of the first half.

After a half time rocket from the boss, Wulfs started brightly in the second half.  They put themselves about more, got stuck in and used Adam Hughes as an outlet on the right.  The performance was far more inspired with Nick Ling and Mike Garner performing well in midfield and Andrew Skedgel managing a few marauding runs from his left back position.

After Andy Carey had got into his weekly fight with the opposition centre forward, Wulfs pushed Glades back and got the goal their play deserved a few minutes from time.  Adam Hughes did well to finish Stefan Kapcia's through ball.

Special mention to Adam Pugh and Rich Lovegrove who put in tireless performances up front but Wulfs were left to ponder what might have been had they performed in the first half as they did in the second.

Final score: Old Wulfrunians 1  Glades Athletic 3.
