The fourth XI started brilliantly against local rivals Britannia OB and managed to go a goal ahead after earlier missing a hatful of chances. Carl Hitchon finished well from a few yards out as Wulfs dominated the early stages.
Britannia came roaring back with a few half chances of their own but Wulfs increased their lead when Richard Marsh fired home superbly. He found himself inside the box with one defender and the goalkeeper still to beat. Where many thought he would just fall over, Marshnought managed to tie the defender in knots and bury the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
Slack marking however let Britannia back into the game as they reduced the deficit to 2-1 by half time.
Wulfs again started the half brilliantly but couldn't make their domination count. A number of chances were spurned, the most memorable a strike by Rami 'the Egyptian' Labib from two yards out that crashed against the crossbar.
Wulfs were obviously suffering from the loss of Andrew Skedgel at half time through a lack of fitness. Skedge jnr had been the best player in the first half, except Marsh and Nick Ling.
Wulfs were unlucky to concede an equaliser midway through the second half and then let their heads drop and conceded a winner close to the end of the game.
Wulfs battled in vain to grab something out of the game and not even a cameo outfield appearance from substitute Roscoe Hale could save them.
Four words to finish with - bring on the Sheensta!
Final score: Old Wulfrunians 2 Britannia OB 3.
